Medical marijuana issue hits Grand Forks Council

Grand Forks city council has voted to allow councillor Joy Davies to proceed with a task force on medical marijuana, but not as an official city committee.

After losing a friend with a terminal illness who was denied the drug, Davis says its become her personal mission to help provide easier access to medicinal marijuana for senior citizens in the Boundary Area.

Davies says she understand the red tape that comes along with medicinal marijuana....she has been a user for 9 years now, and adds without it she would not have a life.

Davies along with a few other community members will be collecting templates from across the country about cannabis dispensers and compassion clubs, she hopes through providing well rounded research the city will understand the need for change.
