MISSOULA (AP) — A 40-year-old medical marijuana patient was arrested this week after authorities seized 30 pot plants from inside his garage.

Missoula narcotics detectives used a battering ram Thursday to enter David A. Michaud's home, where they found the plants and a hydroponic grow operation.

Authorities let Michaud keep the six plants he's allowed to have under Montana's Medical Marijuana Act, according to court documents charging him with felony criminal production of dangerous drugs. No marijuana pipes were seized, and a small amount of dried pot that was stored in a glass jar was left in the house.

Michaud, who says he uses medical marijuana to relieve chronic migraine headaches, pain and nausea, remains jailed on $20,000 bail.
