MONTREAL - The Montreal Compassion Club, which distributes marijuana for medical purposes, has opened a new storefront locale.
Founder Marc-Boris St-Maurice says the new location has no curtains because he has nothing to hide. The club started providing access to medical marijuana in 1999 but was later shutdown in a police raid.
Since then it has been operating at various locations around Montreal and has more than 1,000 members.
The club has offered marijuana to people who suffer from various illnesses such as cancer and HIV-Aids.
St-Maurice said Tuesday at a news conference that he wants the Quebec government to be involved in the distribution of medical marijuana that's currently being done by Ottawa.
